This past week, I got to experience Tahoe (in all its winter glory) for the very first time.
We stayed at Squaw Valley in a neat little place that had a lovely patio, kitchen, and fireplace on top of all the regular hotel amenities. Another thing I thought was neat about our place was that all the hotels were above shops and restaurants. A great and unnoticeable place to people watch, muhaha.
This was our view from the patio. |
Ain't he cute?!!! |
This would be after the first two times. My chin was stinging so bad that I improvised a scarf. Too bad I didn't think of it sooner!! |
After two very long treks down, I was pretty achy. My hamstrings were on fire, my knees were red, my tailbone was tender, the left-side of my rump was sore, my wrists were weak, and my chin was so cold it burned to the touch. I was pretty set on being done but I got talked into going down one more time because JB said he would hold my hands the whole way down.
This was probably one of the coolest things ever (if only he would of thought of this my first run down!!)
For about 3/4 of the way down he held my hands so I could balance and get the hang of doing frontside. The only downside of this was it killed my calves. We ate it a couple times but it was fun. I was so shaky!
Lesson learned about myself:
I don't do so well when I am scared.
I am a poor sport.
I don't like sucking at something.
Muscles used for snowboarding are not the ones I have been working on at the gym!! BOO
I get frustrated easily.
I get super sensitive and agro when being ditched on a mountain.
Aside from that we poked around Tahoe City, ate at a delicious Bagelry, almost karaoke-d(!!), drove around the lake, and cooked/enjoyed many a delicious meals together. I definitely got my road trip fix and it was so nice to spend time together in a place we had never been before.
It also SNOWED on Tuesday night which I was TOTALLY stoked about. Sadly, it wasn't a snow to make the mountain powdery. (LOOK AT THAT FREAKING SNOWFLAKE!! EEEEEEEEEE!) |
